"We work hard, and we take every chance to laugh,
to enjoy our listings and our clients."
Anet and Pat began Tarpoff & Talbert in the spring
of 1992 focusing on providing a personalized real estate
service. They don't take on many buyers or sellers at
once - 12 to 15 each year is all. This gives them the
time to become deeply involved with each project. They
never represent both buyer and seller in the same sale.
Pat and Anet concentrate first on establishing what
their client's goals are. Sometimes people know what
they want and where they want to go, but frequently,
exploration is needed before the destination can be
envisioned.
"Every house is - delightfully - different."
It is these differences that fascinate them. They endeavor
to point them out, the specifics of each listing, to
potential buyers. They take photos, write poetry and
songs, use color and floor plans - do whatever they
can to show what it is that is the essence of each house
they market. No two advertising flyers are alike. Each
is individually designed and printed for a specific
listing.
True Experiences in Real Estate
The T & T column has been running since 1994. They
appear every Friday in the real estate section of The
Montclarion, The Berkeley Voice, The (El Cerrito) Journal,
The Piedmonter, and, most weeks, in The Alameda Journal.
Many of the almost 500 columns written so far are true
stories about their clients, their houses, what made
them buy or sell, how they did it, and - as often as
possible - what funny things happened along the way.
They've also included how-to stuff such as pricing and
staging a house. Their idea was to demystify real estate,
to tell what agents really do.
Consulting Services
Pat and Anet sometimes offer hourly consulting, most
often with people who are buying directly (a tenant
buying from a landlord, for instance), and occasionally
in a situation where no sale is involved (an owner wanting
advice on whether to add on a bedroom and bath, for
example).
"We love our job. We love the great people we
meet and the houses we see. Most of all, we love doing
our job thoroughly and well. We have quite a few satisfied
clients."
